Sammye L. Dingle (Totsie) of Jones Creek, Texas, died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on July 11, 2016, at the age of 88. She was born August 23, 1927 in Comanche, Texas to Walter Calvin and Kittie Mae (Tarpley) Lanford and grew up in Hillsboro, Texas. She married Harold S. Dingle on September 26, 1947. She worked for and retired from Dow Chemical Company and helped her husband run H.S. Dingle Ranch. Sammye was a member of Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church and served as an elder for many years. She was a great supporter of the community and played an active role in community events. She was an animal lover who never turned away a stray. She loved and cared for many pets during her life and was a contributor and volunteer of the Brazoria County SPCA. She enjoyed working in her yard, planting trees and flowers and was very proud of her knock-out roses. She loved baking and canning and was well known for both. Famous for her mini pecan pies, delicious jellies and bread-and-butter pickles, better known as "Sammye Dingle Pickles." Sammye is survived by her sister-in-law, Ilene Lanford, of Columbus, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family; dear friend, Jeanette (Sunny) Bumpers; and her loyal companion, "Pretty Boy." Sammye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; brothers, John Switzer Lanford, Ben Wilson Lanford; sisters, Kittie Mae Parnell, Ellan Brandon, and Betty Sue Walker. Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 N. Dixie Dr., Lake Jackson. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and funeral service will be Thursday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. Donations made in memory of Sammye to Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church or their food pantry are appreciated.

Sammye and Harold were great friends to my family. We purchased our first show calf from them and they took my daughter under their wing as they did many Brazoria County children. We kept a close relationship with them throughout the years and Sammye cringed her love for us through my grandsons showing. Whenever we ran into her she always asked about Jacey and was so pleased to know he was showing tiger striped bra fords We will love her forever. Kindest woman we ever met.

She was my wonderful faithful volunteer at the nursing home for many years. Always, with a smile on her face. Thank you for sharing her with me.
