Thomas Byron Jenkins, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 12 at CHI St. Luke's Brazosport in Lake Jackson, TX. He was born on March 4, 1938 in Sandusky, Ohio to Clair Devere and Isadore Virginia Jenkins. Tom grew up in LaPorte and Lake Jackson, TX. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1956. After high school Tom attended the University of Houston, where he received an Engineering degree. He served four years in the US Army and started his 50+ year career with NASA in 1965. Tom considered his work his hobby, and he loved every minute of it. Tom married Nancy Rosatti in 2006 in Lake Jackson, TX. They were happily married for almost 10 years. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 15th at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, TX. Visitation will be held at 11:00 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Pallbearers will be: Ned Robinson, Val Hoffman, Mitch Mardis, Michael Mardis, Jason McBroom, and Anthony Ward. Tom is survived by his wife Nancy Rosatti-Jenkins, Son Brent Cole Jenkins, Grandson Byron Dirk Jenkins, Brother Dick Jenkins, Step-Children Nancy Hoffman (Val), Donna Mardis (Mitch) and Tony Rosatti (Elizabeth), along with many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Clair Devere and Isadore Virginia Jenkins, 1st Wife Margie Beth Jenkins, Son Keith Byron Jenkins, and Brother James Edward (Jimmy) Jenkins.

After a year of wondering what happened to my fellow genealogist and member of the Sarr family I started diligently looking for him and sadly found out of his passing. I am sorry to hear this. He was such a great help in my research on our Sarr family in Erie County, Ohio and I just had a huge breakthrough that he would of been so excited about!

What an awesome man! Tom was an inspirational mentor and friend throughout my employment in the ESTL. It was a joy coming in each day to chat an learn from one so calm/cool and extremely knowledgeable. He will surely be missed. My condolences to the Jenkins family. Tom Jenkins was a great man who loved and enjoyed his job, his attention to detail and steadfast dedication to Aerospace industry played a major role in our advancements of Manned Space Flight and other vehicular activities. Dear Mr. Jenkins, may you rest in peace with God. Our prayers are with you and your family.

I met Mr. Jenkins when I was a newly graduated young engineer at ESTL in 1996. He was my mentor. He was always kind, polite, helpful, and patience to me and everyone around him. Over six years and my pleasured of working with Mr. Jenkins, he had left a life-long impression on my life. I have adopting many of his good personal characters in my life, thank you! I have also learned from Mr. Jenkins on how to talk and treat others. You will be forever remember.

Mr. Jenkins often said, "Gravy make everything taste good!" I agreed.

I first met Tom ( we fondly called each other Bubba ) in 1982 when I transferred to the ESTL. In all my 33 years of Lockheed employment,I can honestly say Tom was the greatest Co - Worker ever. I met Tom in summer of 1966 when J44 first opened (called 440 then). I guess he was a founding member of the Electronic Systems Test Laboratory (ESTL). We became better acquainted when he designed the original lab status board which he fondly called the etch-a-sketch. He was extremely meticulous and took pride in everything he did. I also remember his precise printing style for which Roger Leith tagged him the "Human Typewriter". Our thoughts and prayers are with Brent, Nancy and the rest of the family.
