Joyce Grey Lastovica was born on December 7, 1930 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Margaret (Mangum) and Exum Grey. She attended schools in Raleigh, Miami, and Boston, and a Pre-Nursing course at Boston University. In 1952, she obtained her RN from Stuart Circle Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. She married John E Lastovica Jr. in 1956 in Freeport, Texas. She is survived by her husband, John and her two sons, John Lastovica III (wife, Tina) now living in Midland, Michigan, Jim Lastovica, of Lake Jackson, Texas; and in Zionsville, Indiana her grandson, Ryan (wife, Fiona) and great-granchildren, Sam and Jessie whom Joyce dearly loved. Joyce was very active in her church. She loved Jesus her Lord and Savior and lived always close to Him. Among her many close friends and relatives were Jo Brantley, Lois Charlton, Jackie and AD Ashworth, members of Freeport First Presbyterian Church, Trish Ham, Helen Ponko, Anna Eavey, Walter Lastovica (deceased, wives, Margaret and Betty, both deceased) and their families. She will always be remembered for her cheerfulness, kindness, and love given so freely...always a dear beautiful and kind person. She shall be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be in the chapel at Lakewood Funeral Home at 98 Dixie Drive in Lake Jackson, Texas at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 18 with the Rev. Leslie Attema, of Freeport First Presbyterian Church officiating. There will not be a graveside service. Visitation will be two hours before the service.

John, John & Jim. Our heart goes out to you all. I know that losing Mrs. Lastovica will be very tough on you all. Just remember that you know where she is and that one day you will see her again. She isn't really gone, just out of sight. All our best.

Joyce Lastovica
A friend to all who met here. A friend for life. The kindest, dearest, charmingest, lady in all I have ever met. When I think of Joyce,
Ruth of the Bible comes to mind. She showed in true time how to
live for God. Joyce has always been a mentor to me. She has shown
me throughout my Christian life what it is to be a true follower of
Christ. My love for this lady of Christ will never fail. I do ask God
to bless her husband, John, a true believer in Christ, as well, a man
that show daily how to be a man of Christ and an excellent husband.
Bless her two Sons and her whole extended family.

A wonderful person and a fun friend. She will be missed and remembered by many. A strong Christian and sweet soul who went about the world doing good. Prayers ascend for the boys and John who was quick to share his handkerchief. Love to all. Marty Wright
