James Louis Lovil

September 13, 1934 May 13, 2015

Jim was born September 13, 1934, in Lockesburg, Arkansas, to Oren and Kate Lovil. He attended high school in Texarkana. Jim moved to the Brazosport area in 1952 and started employment with Dow Chemical. He retired after 42 years of service. He also worked for H&R Block for eight years after his retirement from Dow.

He and his wife, Myrna, built their home on Bastrop Bayou where they lived for close to 30 years. Myrna passed away in 2008 and Jim never got over losing her. Myrna was from Canada. He was also preceded in death by his father; mother; and son, James Ray.

He leaves behind a son and daughter; his in-laws from Canada, Kim and Esko Kalviainen, Violet Babcock, Lynn Latreille, Lorie and Luc Lavallee; and a host of step-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews; also one special and dear friend, Cindy Sellars, who listened to him during the period after Myrna's death; and not to forget his housemate whom he loved dearly, The Joey, an orange and white tabby cat, who he said was always there for him after he lost Myrna.

Jim attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Clute. Jim's ashes will be interred with Myrna's ashes in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 , at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with visitation at 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

I am so very sorry to read about Jim's passing. I still think of and miss Myrna, and would always message Jim on her birthday/day of passing, as well as check in on him sometimes. He was faithful for years to send me the Christian post of Dr David Jeremiah. I will be forever grateful to have had both Myrna and Jim as friends while living in Texas.
