Joseph Robert Leo Jones
3/5/1936 - 8/2/2018

Joseph R.L. Jones, loving husband, father, grandfather and "GGPa" passed away peacefully Thursday, August 2, 2018, with his dear family by his side. Joe was born March 5, 1936 in Terre Haute, IN to Herbert W. and Chlorine Dill Jones. Shortly after graduating from high school, he attended Indiana State University, where he played baseball, the game he truly loved. Joe later served in the U.S. Army, which brought him to San Antonio, TX where he met his loving wife, Julia. While in the Army, Joe had the honor of playing baseball for Brooke Army Medical at Fort Sam Houston. After serving his country, Joe and Julia relocated to Lake Jackson, TX where he worked for The Dow Chemical Company as a Draftsman until his retirement in 1993 after 30 years of service. Joe was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and was blessed to experience their historic World Series Championship in 2016. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and genealogy. Above all else, Joe loved the Lord and shared his faith with his family, which is by far his greatest legacy. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lorene Martin and Mary Pearman; and brother Dave Jones. Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Julia; three daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Keith Hacker of Spring, TX; Donna and Jeff Ogle of Lake Jackson; Lisa and Joe Mancuso of Kingwood, TX. Joe is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandson who truly loved and respected their grandpa more than words can express: Brittney, Brianna, Valerie, Emma, Laithe, Alexandra (Caleb), Hunter, Drake, and Carson; brother Herbert W. Jones and wife Patt; sister-in-law, Jane Jones; and many nieces and nephews who will forever hold a special place in their hearts for "Uncle Joe". A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Lake Jackson, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Christ Lutheran Church (86 Plantation Drive, Lake Jackson, TX) or a charity of your choice.
