Derrick Steven Perez, 49 of Richwood passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 6:00 9:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home. Rosary services to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, February 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Church in Freeport.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary; grandparents, Santiago and Teresa Perez; and beautiful niece, Summer Grant.

Derrick is survived by his parents, Benny (Imelda) Perez; siblings, Benny Perez Jr., Jeannette Perez Grant, Belinda (Manuel) Perez, Michael Perez, and Cynthia (Ramon) Quintanilla; numerous nieces and nephews with extended family, the Andrews.

He will be remembered for being an avid fan of the Tennessee Titans. Win or Lose, Titans all the way! If it wasn't football, he was out enjoying BBQ competitions with the famous Mixed Breed Cookers and Brush County Cookers. Derrick was well known for his famous fajitas and amazing gumbo.

Derrick touched so many lives with his generous heart and spirit. You could always depend on him to lend a helping hand. He participated in endless benefits for the community, giving selflessly to better the world around him. For these qualities and many more, he will leave a great void in our hearts. He will be missed by all.
