Mary Watts Alford

Mary Watts Alford died peacefully in Goodlettsville, TN on June 15, 2019 at the age of 81.

Mary is survived by her children, Connie Watts (Bruce) Northam, Sharon Watts (Danny) Meads, Lisa Watts (Tony) Turner, Jimmie (Robin) Lapier, Rhonda (Allen) Walters; her brothers, Calvin (Mertie) Fletcher, Donald (Pam) Fletcher; along with 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Gussie Fletcher; and husbands, Joe Randall Watts, and Edgar Gerald Alford.

Mary was born on March 7, 1938 in Frankston, Texas to Omer and Gussie Fletcher. She graduated from Brazosport High School in Freeport, Texas. She resided in Clute, Texas most of her life and moved to Goodlettsville, Tennessee to live with her daughter in 2007. She worked in the Engineering Department at Dow Chemical in her early years. She served as secretary for Dr. Duane Phy at First Baptist, Clute, Texas where she also served as pianist, worked in the youth ministry, and served on many mission trips. She served in full-time music ministry with The Northam Singers for many years. Mary was a generous person whose passion was ensuring that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren developed knowledge and a love for God and His Word.

Please join us to celebrate the life of Mary Watts Alford. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson, Texas. A funeral service is schedule for Friday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Clute, TX. Burial will follow at Restwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Christopher Meads, Cody Turner, Chad Turner, Jeffrey Fair, Scott and Blake Lapier.
