Guadalupe Lopez

Guadalupe (Lupe) Lopez, 90, of Freeport, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2011. She was born January 6, 1921 in Houston, Texas to Donaciano and Bibiana Chabolla Lopez. She was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Lupe retired as a cook from Dow Community Hospital after 27 years of service. She loved cooking, crocheting and her specialty was her famous chocolate cake and the very best homemade biscuits. Lupe had a beautiful sense of humor and will be remembered also for her "witty personality comebacks".
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Felix Lopez, Manual Lopez, Antonio Lopez, one sister, Herminia Lopez, brother-in-law Clyde Harris, and niece Margaret Tidwell.
She is survived by three brothers: Miguel Lopez and wife Trini of Menifee, California, Donaciano (Chano) Lopez, Jr. of Freeport, Bill Lopez and wife Mary Lou of Santa Rosa, California, one sister, Mary Harris of Freeport, and her special niece Mary Garcia, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends 7 pm until 9 pm Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a 7:30 pm Rosary service.
Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Father Edmund Eduarte officiating.
Pall bearers will be: Edward T. Garcia, Johnnie Harris, Phillip Lopez, Keith Garcia, Steve Alford, and David Gibson.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the kind care and attention given to Lupe at the Cypress Woods Care Center in Angleton, Texas.
