Lillian Beatrice Dye

Lillian Beatrice Day, 90, died peacefully at her home Friday, May 27, 2011. She was born April 14, 1921 to Clarence Ernest Lynch and Lorena Hancock Lynch in McClean, Illinois.

Lillian graduated from McClean High School and Illinois Wesleyan College with a Bachelor's degree in Music. Lillian was an accomplished pianist and sang on the radio for many years. She married Kenneth Dye and to this union were born eight children. Lillian and Kenneth were married 50 years. Lillian was a wonderful mother and a fabulous cook. She and her daughter Maggie published several cookbooks. Lillian gave piano lessons in exchange for horses for her children. Lillian was a member of the Lake Jackson Garden Club and the Wednesday Review Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Mike (Ellen) Lynch, Kenneth Lynch, Donald (Marge) Lynch, her daughter Maggie Dye Carlton, and grandchildren Katharine Anne Himmel and Jason Marshall.

She is survived by seven children, Katharine Himmel of Carrollton, Elizabeth (Ted) Greak of Sugarland, Kenneth L. (Joyce) Dye of Lake Jackson, Thomas Ernest (Jimmie) Dye of Lake Jackson, Ann (Scott) McKeever of Corinth, Mary (Cody) Puckett of Alvin, Sara (Daniel) Brown of Houston, son-in-law Jim Carleton of Estes Park, Colorado, ten grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Harold (Judy) Lynch, sister-in-law Donna Lynch, and beloved dog Maggie.

A special thank you to Lillian's caregivers Dawna Mathews, Precious Bivens, Delores Mathews, and the Hospice Care Team, Inc.

The family will receive friends 6pm until 8pm Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Lakewood Chapel.,

Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.
