Durwin Fritz Pawelka, 63, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Durwin was born on February 3, 1962, to Estelle and Fritz Pawelka at Community Hospital in Freeport, Texas. Durwin graduated from Brazoswood High School in 1980. He earned his Associates of Arts from the University of Phoenix. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Jackson and proud Texan.
Durwin was known for his very strong work ethic. He worked for Brazoria County Pct 1 in road and bridge maintenance. He retired from MD Anderson in the Houston Medical Center, working in the maintenance department. Durwin was a lifelong philanthropist; he was a very caring and loving person. Durwin did not know how to say "No," always looking out for others. He was very proud of his Czech and German heritage and his family. He was also known for his quirky sense of humor and giving unusual gifts. He loved John Wayne, horses, and the USA.
Survivors include Sons Jonathan Pawelka (Cara Daeschner), Michael Forkum (Kenzie), and Stephen Forkum. Brother Darrell Dane Pawelka (Teresa), Sister-in-laws Shirley Pawelka, Rachell Williams-Pawelka Warner, Glenda Pawelka. Grandchildren Pebble, Bam, and Lukas. Nieces and Nephews: Renee Pawelka, Ashley Pawelka, Chelsea Allen (Jake), Dane Pawelka, Jenny Guynes (Jared), and numerous cousins. Beloved pets- his Green-Winged Macaw, Max, and his dog Pepper.
Durwin was preceded in death by his parents Fritz and Estelle Kaluza Pawelka, Stepfathers, Ralph Poole, and Frank Bohac. Siblings- Infant sister Denise Anne Pawelka, Darcy Wayne Pawelka and Dean Edward Pawelka.
