David Lee Potts, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on January 3, 2026, after a lengthy battle with heart and autoimmune diseases. David was born on December 6, 1947, at the Burnet Hospital, the second son of Glenn and Gloria Potts. He was raised in Austin, but spent summers and holidays at his relatives' ranch in Oatmeal, Texas. David loved hunting and fishing, both in Oatmeal, Tx, the Gulf, Harris Reservoir, the lakes around Austin, and the ponds in Smithville and Goliad.
David grew up in Austin, and was a lifelong Christian, having made his profession of faith at Koenig Lane Christian Church at 12 years old. He attended McCollough High School and U. T. He moved to Lake Jackson at 19 yrs old to work for Dow, beginning in the Lawn department and retiring in the Engineering department. He always said he took advantage of every opportunity offered him.
He was very active in his kids' sports, coaching Girls' Softball, Boys' Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer. He was also a huge fan of his grandkids' activities - baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball, orchestra, and dance.
David was preceded in death by his father and mother, Glenn and Gloria Potts, his stepfather, Fred Dashnaw, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bobby and Charlene Payne.
His survivors included his wife, Pamela Payne Potts, whom he married on Valentine's Day, 1981; his daughters, Leigh-Anne Eaton ( Wayne), of Briggs, and Vicki Potts of Leander; his son, Jonathan Schreiber (Mona) of Lake Jackson; brother, Stan Potts (Nicki), of Nashville, brother-in-law, Bryan Payne (Amy), of Angleton; and, the pride and joys of his life, his grandchildren: Allison Tippie (Walker), Jackson Schreiber (Ashley), Payne Schreiber, Kate Schreiber, and Cayla Caster. He is also survived by his precious great grandchildren, Emery, Truett, and Wyatt. Additionally, he is survived by many cousins, including Eddy Potts, Tommy Potts, and Billy Ira Wall, as well as several nephews and nieces whom he loved, and his faithful Golden Retriever, Gypsy.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:00 at Brazos Pointe Fellowship, with the funeral following at 1:00.
