Nancy Louise Williams

Nancy Louise Williams, 84, of Freeport passed away September 9, 2013. She was born Jan. 31,1929 to Herman J. and Mary B. Allen. The visitation will be 1:30pm until service time 3pm Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Freeport. Interment will be at Gulf Prairie Cemetery.

She moved to Weslaco, TX in the Rio Grande Valley in 1931 and graduated from Weslaco H.S. in 1946.

Nancy attended Edinburg Jr. College for 2 years before entering Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos graduating with a BS in May, 1950. She also Attended Sul Ross State Teachers College for 3 summers and received her MBA degree in 1955.

A college courtship resulted in marriage to Charles Williams in 1950.

She taught homemaking for a year at LaCaste H.S. before moving to the Brazosport area in 1952. She became a charter member of West Freeport Primary (currently Jane Long Elementary) teaching first grade and later second grade. In 1964 she became principal of Stephen F. Austin Elementary, which position she held for 4 years. When Bess Brannen Elementary opened in 1968, she became its first principal. There she remained until retirement in June 1985, having been with the Brazosport ISD for 31 years. She was loved by her teachers and students.

Retirement years were kept busy gardening, cooking, needlework and sewing, fishing and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Joe.

Nancy was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Freeport and served as an elder.

She is survived by: her husband, Charles Williams
Daughter, Becky Nichols and husband Nick of Bridge City, TX
sons:
Allen Williams and wife Pat of Richwood, TX,
Mark Williams and wife Vicki of Lake Jackson, TX,
Grandchildren:
Bill Nichols, Sam Nichols, Laycie Williams and Markus Williams.

The pallbearers will be:
Bill Nichols, Sam Nichols, Markus Williams, Greg Flaniken, Dennis Moore
and the Honorary Pallbearers are
E.J. Kutach, Jimmy Allan, Mickey Burwell, D.J. Hybner, Larry Potter, and Benny Glover.
