Gail Virginia Schultz Thompson

Gail Thompson passed away peacefully on the November 26, 2014 at Country Village Care in Angleton, TX. Gail is survived her daughter, Cyndi Wleczyk or West Columbia, TX; her son, Brett Thompson of New Brunswick, NJ; her sister Susan Edwards of Chicago Il; her granddaughters, Taylor and Sierra Wleczyk, of West Columbia, TX and her great granddaughters, Adalynn Goins and Kinley Longoria of West Columbia, TX; sister-in-law, Nitaray Jess of Prescott, AZ; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Thompson, who passed away from a lengthy courageous battle with carcinoid cancer only one year earlier on November 21, 2013. She was a loving mother and will be missed by many.

Gail was born in Flushing Queens, New York City, New York on October 23, 1938 to Dorothy and Grant Schultz. She and family remained in Queens for eight years until moving to Lincoln, NB, where Gail grew up. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where she got her degree in English and participated in several University-supported extracurricular activities. She was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. While at Sorority party, Gail met her life-long friend, confidant and future husband of 52 years, Bob Thompson. In 1961, Gail received position to teach 5th Grade in the Denver County school system in Denver, CO. She and Bob loved the Colorado lifestyle and remained in Lakewood, CO, until 1974 enjoying the many opportunities that Colorado offers. Gail particularly enjoyed camping and sharing family vacations in the mountains of Gramby and Grand Lake.

Gail was a Pink Lady for Brazosport Memorial Hospital for more than 13 years and loved every minute. She was an amazing quilter and was a member of the Brazoria County Quilting Club for many years. But her most valued past time was participating in all activities with her granddaughters, Taylor and Sierra. Attending softball, soccer, dance recitals, and cheer competitions.

Thank you to the Country Village Nursing Facility, in particular, Becky Hlavaty, Ann Scott, Mika Hollaway, Melanie Schaefer, Rachel Blackburn, Olga Flores, Linda Walton, Laurie Delgado and all their staff. Further, we thank the Altus Hospice Team, in particular Mary Free, Ann Nesbit, Charles and Consetti for this loving care and support of Gail and her family and making her passage a peaceful and comfortable experience. Thank you to the Lakewood Funeral Home for help with the funeral arrangements. Thank you also to the Chapelwood United Methodist Church for conducting funeral service. Most especially, we thank Robert Keller, for his friendship and support, for our entire family.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral at 9:00 AM on Tuesday December 02, 2014 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 300 Willow Dr., Lake Jackson, TX. Funeral will follow at 10:00 AM with Pastor Peter Cammarano officiating.
