Hal Dicky Coulter, 76 of Jones Creek passed away Friday, November 28, 2014.


Dicky was born August 14, 1938 to Joe and Alma Coulter in Sand Flat, Texas. Dicky spent his formative years in Sand Flat where he created many fond memories with family and friends, particularly his grandparents who were very special to him. Dicky moved to the Brazosport area in 1952 and attended Brazosport High School where he graduated in 1956. Dicky developed his lifelong passion for sports as a star baseball pitcher for the Exporters.


Dicky met the love of his life, Irene Andreason, in 1958 at the popular meeting spot, Beach Pavilion on Surfside Beach, where Irene's parents were proprietors. Dicky and Irene were married July 29, 1960 and enjoyed 54 years of loving marriage.


Dicky worked for Simmons Building Supply Co. in Freeport from the late 50's until its closing in 1995. Dicky then worked for Home Lumber Co. in Rosenberg, TX from 1995 to 2006. From 2006 until the time of his death Dicky was working as an Estimator for BMC. Dicky loved his work and was well known throughout the communities he worked within. Dicky was a familiar name and face to many people in the Brazosport area through their positive interaction with him at Simmons.


In addition to his work, Dicky has served in the community through various activities in his lifetime. Some of these were Little League Baseball President in Freeport, Member of the Freeport Masonic Lodge, Active Member of the Brazosport Quarterback Club, BWA Water Board, Member and Elder at Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church and Velasco Order of the Eastern Star.


Dicky loved His Lord Jesus and His family more than anything in life. He was baptized as a young man in Sand Flat, TX in the Antioch Baptist Church. He also enjoyed many aspects of life that brought him joy, such as classic cars, country music, sports of all kinds, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Coulter and Alma Baker Coulter.
Dicky is survived by his wife Irene, his sons Kevin Coulter (Stacey), K eith Coulter (Gail) and Kayne Coulter (Stacy); eight grandchildren Callie Coulter, Cameron Coulter, Casey Duke (Dylan), Kevin Coulter, Codi Coulter, Kyle Coulter, Josi Coulter and Christian Coulter; two brothers Jimmy Coulter (Jane) and Joe Coulter (Sue) ; two sisters, Ruth Hagen (Bud) and Sandy Garrison (Carl); sister-in-law Nadine Jordan (Max) along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.


Dicky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Dicky had a gift of making those around him feel better. His positive and joyful personality was infectious, and if you were ever with him you could not help but leave with a smile on your face.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 2nd at Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church in Jones Creek with Rev. Tom Wessman officiating. Dicky 's nephew, Pastor Ron Jordan will assist in the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 1st also at Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church.


Pallbearers will be Kevin, Keith, Kayne, Kevin, Kyle, Christian, James Coulter, Dylan Duke, and Garrett Jolley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Coulter, Joe Coulter, and Max Jordan.
