Billy Ervin Bradshaw, age 95, of Jones Creek, Texas, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 25, 2026.

Billy was born on January 18, 1931, in Marvell, Arkansas, to Jessie and Grace Bradshaw. He was raised in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, where he developed a strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and a servant’s heart that would define the rest of his life.

Billy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a boilerman and repairman aboard the USS Boyd (DD-544), the flagship of Destroyer Squadron 15. During his service, the Boyd completed combat operations in the waters off Korea, Formosa (now Taiwan), and Japan. For his faithful service, Billy was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

After returning from military service, Billy settled in Texas, where he dedicated many years as an insulator at Dow Chemical. He was respected for his hard work, craftsmanship, and dependability.

Above all else, Billy loved the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life as he faithfully served his family, church, neighbors, and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. If something was broken, Billy could fix it—or invent the perfect tool for the job. He was the person everyone called when they needed advice, a repair, or simply a good laugh.

Billy’s talents seemed endless. He loved woodworking, sewing, gardening, and could often be found happily riding a lawn mower or attending water aerobics. His creativity knew no bounds, and he was constantly dreaming up clever inventions, including his famous “Quarter Pounder,” whistle stick, pecan sheller, and custom-made ball caps that intrigued family and friends. Billy was also known for rescuing what others considered junk, confident he could restore it to life. Whether it was a weed eater, pressure washer, air compressor, or countless other treasures found along the roadside, he saw potential where others saw trash. He found joy in making things with his hands and improving whatever he touched.

Perhaps what people will remember most was Billy’s unforgettable personality. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a gifted storyteller whose tales could fill a room with laughter. He possessed a quick wit, an infectious sense of humor, and a remarkable gift for giving everyone memorable nicknames. He had a way of making every person he met feel like an old friend. His laughter, playful spirit, and ability to brighten any room will be deeply missed.

Billy shared 73 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Betty Bradshaw, having married on May 31, 1953. Together they built a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that continues through generations.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 73 years, Betty Bradshaw; his sons, Brian Bradshaw and Michael Bradshaw (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Dylan Bradshaw, Brandon Bradshaw, Ashley Beck (Alan), Mason Bradshaw, and Lauren Bradshaw; and his sister, Jessie Mae.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Grace Bradshaw, and by his three brothers and three sisters.

While our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice, knowing Billy has heard those precious words and is now reunited with loved ones in the presence of his Savior. His legacy of faith, kindness, humor, ingenuity, and unconditional love will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, at Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church in Jones Creek, Texas. Public visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to return to the church afterward for a meal, fellowship, and a time of sharing cherished memories as they celebrate Billy’s remarkable life.

And as Billy would always say, “I’m glad you got to see me.”

The truth is, Billy, we’re the ones who were blessed to see you.
