Douglas Crosby, of Jones Creek, went home Saturday, August 5, 2018 at the age of 73, surrounded by his family. He was born in Huntsville, TX on June 9, 1945 to George E. Crosby and Frances Crosby. Douglas is survived by his wife, Robin M. Crosby; daughter, Karen Barrier (Destry); son, John E. Crosby; sister, Diane Crosby; grandchildren, Jared Carrasco and Cordell Crosby; great-grandchildren, Ellary and Waylon Carrasco; three nephews; and aunt; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Crosby; mother, Frances Crosby; spouse, Barbara Crosby; and brother, Donald E. Crosby. Douglas may have been born in Huntsville, TX but he made it to Freeport/Jones Creek where he called "God's Country" at the age of 2 years. He went to Brazosport High School and then transferred to the Military Academy in San Marcos. He then attended Lamar University, where he met and married Barbara Noblitt, before joining the US Navy. He was stationed at Ft. Ord Monterey, CA where his first child was born, Karen Denise. He was then stationed in Jacksonville, FL and Charleston, SC before returning to "God's Country" where his second child was born, John Edward. After being widowed, he found love and happiness when Robin Neal came into his life and they were married July 21, 2001. He enjoyed trail rides, fishing and hunting, but his true passion was raising cows. He spent his life as a heavy equipment operator where he touched so many lives and made many friends. Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Family Life Church with Pastor Craig Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting donations at First Sate Bank, Douglas Crosby Memorial Fund, account ending in 9378.
