Cathy Allen Scherdin, 59, of Clute, Texas, passed away Monday, October 26, 2026 in Galveston, Texas. She got to spend her final days surrounded by her children and their spouses hearing their stories, laughter, and tears, but most importantly of all, feeling their love.

Cathy was born during the winter while her father served abroad in Berlin, Germany to James Leslie Allen and JoAnne Parmiter who proceeded her in death. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, where she enjoyed spending time with her friends of many years, and loved Bingo on Sunday afternoons no matter if she was playing or calling the games. She enjoyed crafting, she cherished time with her kids and grandkids who she loved deeply and was immensely proud of, and she was always up for a good talk about anything and everything and nothing at all. Cathy battled kidney disease years before receiving a kidney transplant in 2025. Her earthly body just couldn’t withstand any more and God called her home where she is now free from disease and pain.

Left to cherish Cathy’s memory are her husband Jimmy Scherdin, her children; Tanisha Chaney and husband Eric, Christopher Penney and wife Rachel, Thomas Penney and wife Taylor, Russell Scherdin and wife Merry, her grandchildren; Hailey, Cameron, Mya, Xavier, Laura, Logan, and her brother Tony Allen, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her presence in their lives dearly.
