In Loving Memory of Gary Lee Taylor
Gary Lee Taylor, 70, of Freeport, Texas, made his final journey into the waiting arms of Jesus on September 26, 2026.
Heaven gained a truly gentle soul, and those who were blessed to know Gary will forever cherish the memories of his kindness and friendship. Love is the emotional anchor of a life well lived, and Gary was truly loved by many.
Gary proudly served in the military for more than 20 years. He was also self-employed and held licenses in numerous fields, which afforded him the opportunity to travel the world before eventually finding his way to Freeport, Texas, where he made his final home.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Menhennett Taylor, of Freeport, Texas; his daughter, Melanie Taylor, of Orangeburg, South Carolina; and his stepdaughter, Katelin Jones (Jack), of Mebane, North Carolina. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Karson, McKenzie, and Lexi-Ann Fields, and his step-grandson, Emery Jones.
Gary was also the very best dog dad to his loyal companion, Honey. She was a special part of his life, and those who know Gary understand just how much he loved her.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Margaret Taylor, and his brother, David, all of Asheville, North Carolina.
Gary deeply loved his extended family—the residents of Hudgins Estate—who will miss him dearly. He will be remembered not only for his vast knowledge and talent for handyman repairs, but also for his gentle demeanor, his willingness to listen, and his unwavering loyalty as a friend. Gary had a special way of making people feel heard and cared for, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 25, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the United Methodist Fellowship Hall in Freeport, Texas.
All family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Gary’s life, the love he shared, and the many lives he touched.
Though his journey on earth has ended, the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will live on forever.
