Gloria Martinez Mireles, age 70, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Gloria was born in Angleton, Texas, on November 15, 1955. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Marin; her sons, Michael and Mark; her daughter-in-law, Kristin; her sisters, Josie Flores, Lupe Tamayo, Ofelia Aguilar, and Angie Alderete; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in their love, laughter, and time spent together. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Angelita Martinez, and her siblings Margaret Yanez, Mary Kay, Nellie Taylor, Aurora Rodriguez, Stella Hinojosa, and Marty Martinez.
For 30 years, Gloria served as an educator at Madge Griffith Elementary School, where she touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to her students. She was a selfless and caring presence, always going out of her way to help others, whether in the classroom, at home, or in her community. Family meant everything to her, especially her husband, children, and siblings, and she treasured every gathering, holiday, and shared moment with them. Gloria’s caring spirit extended to every part of her life; she loved tending her garden and spending time with her dogs, Milo and Benji, who were constant sources of comfort and joy.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 30, from 5–7 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Lake Jackson, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted there on Friday, July 31, at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Angleton Cemetery.
Gloria's kindness, warmth, and love will be deeply missed, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends
