Obituary

Janie Travis Cornelius, age 95, of Manvel, Texas, formerly of Angleton, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in Clute, Texas.

Janie was born on October 13, 1930, in Trenton, Tennessee. Growing up in a family of sharecroppers, she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice at an early age. Although she dreamed of becoming a nurse, she left school to help support her family by working in the cotton fields. Those experiences shaped the compassionate, selfless, and resilient woman she would become.

Throughout her life, Janie devoted herself to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She found joy in caring for others, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love to everyone blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, F.B. Travis and Jim Cornelius; her son, Joe Travis; and her daughters, Marilyn Fillipp and Patricia Travis Mansel.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Travis of Manvel; granddaughter Amy Sides Milner and her husband, David, of Tomball; grandson Stephen Moreno of Santa Fe and his wife Robin Moreno; and five great-grandchildren: Joshua Moreno, Miah Moreno, Hayden Moreno, Sabrina Milner, and James David Milner.

Janie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, quiet strength, servant's heart, and the unconditional love she shared with her family. She had a remarkable gift for making ordinary moments special and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and devotion that will continue for generations.

Pallbearers: Ben Lampe, Buddy Dudley, Paul Travis, Hayden Moreno, James Milner, and David Milner.

Honorary Pallbearer: Donald "Donnie" Sides.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Janie is now at peace. Her love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in each of us. She was the heart of our family, and her memory will forever be a blessing.
