Obituary

Justin DeWayne Cameron

September 12, 1979 – October 1, 2026

Justin DeWayne Cameron, age 47, of Lake Jackson, Texas, entered eternal rest on October 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Though his passing came far too soon, his memory, joyful spirit, and zest for life will be forever cherished by all who knew him.

Justin was born on September 12, 1979, in Freeport, Texas, to Delbert DeWayne Cameron and Janet Williams. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, "Grandcam," uncle, and friend.

Justin loved deeply and without reservation. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to family, friends, co-workers, and strangers alike.

Hardworking and determined, Justin was employed with CLD, a company that became like a second family to him. He started his career as a day laborer with little construction experience and, through grit and dedication, earned a promotion to Superintendent within just two years. Following a completed job in Columbus, Ohio, his boss flew him home to Texas to be with his family before his next assignment in Lexington, Kentucky—a testament to how much he was valued both as a leader and a friend.

Justin lived life with vibrant passion. He loved music—always tagging friends in his latest favorite songs—and cherished peaceful fishing adventures and dances with his wife, Melinda. He and his siblings Brandon and Sloan shared a bond like the "Three Musketeers," always having each other's backs.

To his son, Austin, Justin was a source of endless pride and love. Austin watched his father grow and transform himself, inspiring Austin to be the best possible dad for his own children. Though Justin and Austin could both be hardheaded—a trait that led to the occasional spat—they always found their way back to forgiveness and laughter. They shared a love of dancing, late-night conversations over music, and random phone calls where Justin would simply remind Austin how deeply he was loved.

Nothing meant more to Justin than being a "Grandcam." He adored his granddaughter, Mara Lu, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his second Grandcam, Malori Dew, expected on October 31, 2026. In a touch that meant the world to Justin, his daughter-in-law, Bella, changed Malori’s middle name to "Dew" to honor him. Justin proudly and affectionately called the two girls his "little M&M’s."

Justin’s loyalty to the Houston Texans was legendary and wildly entertaining to watch. In honor of his love for football, the family invites guests to wear a Houston Texans jersey—or a jersey representing their own favorite team—to help fill the chapel with the game he loved so much as we celebrate his life. (Standard attire is also welcome.)

Justin was preceded in death by his brother, Cory Dean Cameron; his grandparents, Bobbie Dean and Joe C. Williams Jr., Jessie Delbert Cameron, and Margie Ruth Potts; his cousin, Jonathan Warren; and his aunts, Linda Warren, Debbie Cameron and Glenda Pierce.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Melinda Cameron; his son, Austin DeWayne Cameron (Bella); stepchildren, Sara, Abbie, and Noah; his mother, Janet Williams (Brent Langlinais); his father, Delbert DeWayne Cameron (Veronica); his brother, Brandon Cameron (Leslie); his baby sister, Margie Sloan Cameron; his half-brother, Mike Cameron; three step-siblings; his precious Grandcams, Mara Lu Cameron and soon-to-arrive Malori Dew Cameron; nieces, Taylor, Nevaeh, Naomi, Davany, Abigail, Lilly, and Jessee; nephews, Logan, Gaven, Johnny, Elam, and Aidan; as well as many extended family members, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

“Forever Your Little Sister”

I never thought being the little sister would someday mean standing here, having to say goodbye to another brother. When you’re young, you don’t think about things like this. You think your brothers will always be there to pick on you, to make you laugh, to aggravate you until you want to scream, and somehow still be the people you would call when you needed them most.

I have already had to say goodbye once, and now, I’m having to say goodbye again. Two brothers. Two different goodbyes. Two pieces of my childhood, my family, and my heart that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

And standing here as the only sister, I realize just how much being a little sister meant. I wasn’t just their sister. I was the “little sister”. No matter how old I get, a part of me will always be that girl who had her brothers in this world and never imagined a world without them.

Our family has never been simple. We have different relationships, different memories, and different paths that life has taken us down.

I have a half-brother too. Our relationship has been distant, and we didn’t share the same childhood or the same closeness that I had with my other brothers. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love him. He is my brother. He is part of my family, and he is part of my story.

To the brother, I still have here with me. I hope you know how much I love you. We’ve already lost too much, and I hope we never take for granted the time we still have together. No matter how old we get, you’re still my brother, I’m still your little sister, and you’re stuck with me.

Because life has taught me something, I wish I had never learned: Don’t wait to say I love you. Don’t wait to make the call. Don’t wait for tomorrow to tell someone what they mean to you.

To my brother who I am saying goodbye to today. Thank you for giving me a lifetime of memories that death cannot take away. I will talk about you. I will laugh about you. I will cry for you. And I will carry you in my heart everywhere I go.

When I think of you, I know I will also think of the brother I lost before you, because both helped shape the little sister I became. Losing you both is something I never imagined I would have to carry. But I will carry it. I will carry your memories. I will carry your laughter. I will carry the love. And I will carry you. Because I may have to learn how to live with you no longer here, but I will never have to learn how to stop loving you.

No matter how old I get, no matter how much life changes me, I will always be your little sister. And I will love you for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, my big brother.

With Love, Baby Flie
