Laura L. Rhodes Hughes, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28th, 2026, at the age of 69.

Laura was born on May 29, 1957, in Granite City, IL to John and Eva Mifflin. Her family moved several times before settling in Odessa, TX, where she later attended school. Laura moved to Lake Jackson in 1989 to be closer to family. Laura attended Grace Fellowship church in Richwood and loved spending time at church and bible study. Faith, family, and friends were the most important things to Laura, and she loved spending time with her large family, including five children, twelve grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Those who knew Laura will remember her for her sense of humor, stubbornness, and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva Mifflin and John Mifflin, brothers; Kendall Mifflin, Skip Mifflin, Dennis Mifflin, sister Terri Bones, and the love of her life husband Danny Rhodes.

Laura’s legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her son James Day (Melanie Wulf) grandchildren KC Day, Conor Day, and Sorcha Day; Daughter Jodie Brewer and husband Steve, grandchildren, Ryan Day, Damyan, Zoey, Kalysta, Freya Brewer; Son Dustin Kreidler and wife Erin, grandchildren Tyler (Amanda) Kreidler, and Madyson (Bowdrie) Kreidler; Daughter Eva Stanford (Russell Black) and grandchildren Ayden Radford, Kanden (Keyanah) Radford, Kaylee Black, and Easton Black; son Patrick Westover, great grandson Darryan Day, and brother John Mifflin.

Pallbearers will be Connor Day, Ayden Radford, Kanden Radford, Damyan Brewer, Darryan Day, Tyler Kreidler, Christopher Albair, and Casey Albair. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ryan Day, Stephen Brewer, Russell Black, Easton Black, and Robert “Bucky” Graham.

Visitation will be on Saturday September 5th, 2026, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel 98 Dixie Dr. Lake Jackson from 4:30 p.m. to 7 pm. Funeral services will be on Sunday September 6th, 2026, at Grace Community Fellowship Church 1495 FM 2004 Richwood, Texas at 3 pm with Pastor Vincent officiating.
