Laverne Darnell Waller, also known fondly as "Meemaw" to many who loved her, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018 in Houston, Texas under the loving care of her care providers Steve, Michelle and Stephanie. She was born September 12, 1926 in Port Arthur, Texas. She grew up in Port Arthur, where she graduated from high school and then Port Arthur College. She later moved to Freeport, Texas where she went to work for Dow Chemical Company. In 1957, she met and married Fred Waller and they moved to Lake Jackson, TX. They both retired from Dow Chemical Company in 1984 and for many years they enjoyed traveling. In 2006, they moved to Houston, Texas to be near family. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Taylor (James); her grandchildren, Lisa Albrecht (Scott) and John Taylor (Michelle); and her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Lindsay, Bailey and Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Waller; her parents, Robert and Beatrice Darnell; her sisters, Mertice Montgomery and Ava Cannon; and her brother, Chester Darnell. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27th at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m.
