In Loving Memory of Patsy LaRue (Powell) Wade

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Patsy LaRue (Powell) Wade, who gracefully left this world on October 15, 2026, at the age of 89. Patsy, affectionately known as Pat, was born on December 3, 1936, in Gatesville, Texas, to her loving parents, Winston Clyde and Lydia Lunette Powell.

In 1955, Pat married the love of her life, Richard Wade, in Clute, Texas, where they built a beautiful life together over 67 cherished years. Their unwavering love and devotion were an inspiration to all who knew them. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary Powell, and beloved sons, Gary Wayne Wade and Steven Ray Wade.

Family was the cornerstone of Pat’s life. She was a proud mother, sister, and grandmother, whose family extended beyond her immediate loved ones to include a wide circle of friends and community members. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Richard, her daughters-in-law, Rhonda Kay Wade and Rebecca Wade. brother Michael Powell, her grandchildren Steven & Jamie Wade, Krystal & Justin Sims, Mark & Annie Wade, Sharley & Wade Garcia, Tyler Wade, and Christopher Wade, along with her 14 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Pat was a graduate of Brazosport High School and dedicated her entire professional life to serving her community as a Brazoria County Clerk. Her career with Brazoria County began when she went to work for Judge Thomas. She continued serving Brazoria County for several decades until her retirement. Here she earned the affectionate nickname "the butterfly lady" for her collection of butterfly pins worn proudly on her suit jacket and "the owl lady" for her collection of owls. Pat's career spanned several decades, and she retired with respect and love from her colleagues and community.

A woman of deep faith, Pat was an active member of the Clute church of Christ, where she found joy in singing acapella hymns and cherished the fellowship of her congregation until her health no longer allowed her to attend services. Her love for sewing and crocheting was known to many, as she often shared her beautifully crafted creations with friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31st, at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, located at 98 N. Dixie Drive in Lake Jackson, Texas. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and join together in honoring and celebrating a life remembered with love.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in lieu of sending flowers are asked to consider making a donation to the 100 Club of Brazoria County in Pat's name. The family wishes to thank IPH Hospice and Woodlake Nursing Home for their loving care of Pat in her final days.

Patsy LaRue (Powell) Wade’s legacy of love, generosity, and strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
