Rodney Dallas
Kellison
July 30, 1951 – July 14, 2021
Rodney Dallas Kellison, 69, known to family and friends as Rod, left this world on July 14th, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Kellison and Wanda Lunsford. He is survived by Anh Nguyen, his loving wife of 17 years, his brother Ronnie Kellison, his two stepsons Daniel Nguyen and Andre Nguyen, and his stepfather Gary Lunsford.
Rod was born and raised in Kirksville, Missouri. After earning his BS in Chemical Engineering and MS in Chemistry from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Dow summoned him to Texas. He subsequently made Lake Jackson his home for 46 years while working at Dow for 34 years. Following his retirement, he worked as a contractor for 11 more years. Rod spent decades as a process and process-safety engineer. His specialty was pressure relief systems. He enjoyed designing, installing, and inspecting relief devices and flare systems. His imprint on relief systems at Dow is unmistakably present.
Rod was a consummate gentleman. He was kind, genuine, and always ready to help with whatever was needed. He was no fashionista, but we all felt his warm personality, regardless of his clothes. In his free time, he would often relax and snooze on his favorite recliner, where he would also watch movies, TV shows, and sports. One thing that gripped his attention was baseball. Particularly, he loved the Houston Astros and we will always remember him when we watch baseball. We fondly remembered the 2017 World Series celebration, and it is a shame he passed before our 'Stros' 2nd World Series later this year. The absence of Rod's lopsided smile will leave a somber void in our lives but his gentle spirit and soul can never be forgotten.
