Walter Leo Davis departed this world peacefully on April 15, 2026, at home surrounded by family. Leo was born in Texas City, Texas, to John Walter Davis and Bertha Amelia Zlomke on September 7, 1943. He grew up in the Brazoria/Shady Acres area and married Helen Marie Davis on September 8, 1963, and they were happily married for 53 years. They built a beautiful home on the San Bernard River in Shady Acres and hosted many family reunions, 4th of July events, and Christmas gatherings. Leo is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Marie Davis, and his parents, John Walter Davis and Bertha Amelia Zlomke.
He is survived by his two daughters, Connie Leigh Penney of Fort Worth, and Vickie Annette Donner of Brazoria. Grandchildren: Tiffaney Candice DeAmicis (Tony) of Watauga, Brandon Robert Penney (Melyssa) of Fort Worth, Ashley Nicole Carter (Natsu) of Sweeny, Brittaney Crystal Penney of Lake Jackson, Philip Michael Penney (Taylor) of The Woodlands, Breanna Ceara Donner of Clute, and Caitlin Shea Donner of Brazoria. Great-grandchildren: Ilandrin Delaney Puente, Matthew Connor Puente, Elexis Nevaeh Shahan, Lilyanna Alexandria Puente, Aurora Lynn DeAmicis, Jason Taylor Beard, Elizabeth "Ellie" Marie DeAmicis, McKenna Fae Beard, Jaxon Paul Keith, and Desmond Robert Penney. Brother: J.L. Davis of Shady Acres. Leo also had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss his stories about the Royal Rangers, his favorite John Wayne movies, and his infectious laugh.
Visitation will be from 10am to 11am at Lakewood Chapel on April 28, 2026. Services will be 11am at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at the Brazoria Cemetery. Officiate: Philip Penney; Pallbearers: Philip Penney, Brandon Penney, Tony DeAmicis, Thomas Herron, Kevin Davis, Matthew Davis, Natsu Carter, and Jason Taylor Beard. Honorary Pallbearer: JL Davis.
