John Allen Hurst, age 54, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. John was born on January 9, 1964 in Houston, Texas to John "Buddy" and Mary Ann Hurst. John attended Brazoswood High School and was the biggest Brazoswood Buccaneer and Houston Texans fan you would ever meet. John lived a fulfilling life as a husband, son, father, brother, but most importantly a "PaPa" to his 20 grandkids and the many other "adopted" grandkids he called his own. He is survived by his parents, John and Mary Ann Hurst; his wife, Karen Linscombe Hurst; and their six children, Tosha (Gary), Katie, Michael (Charissa), Kimberly Garcia (Edward), Joshua (Ashlee), and Justin (Kaylyn); and his "adopted" children, Andrew "AJ" Pendleton Jr., Rickey Brandon Pugh, and Robert "Jordy" Nieves. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Hurst Batts (Paul); and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. The family will accept friends at 1:00 p.m. until the service starts. The family asks for you to wear your favorite Brazoswood attire to the service.

Dear Hurst Family, I am so sorry for the loss of John for your family and know how much he loved his family and was loved. I had the pleasure of working with John years back at AVW, in fact, I think I hired him there. My heart goes out to each of you during this difficult time. Heaven has gained another Angel for sure! Lots of love, hugs and prayers of peace to each of you. Sallynda
