Doris Rogene (Jean) Brown, 81, went home to her Heavenly Father on January 8th, 2019 with her husband, Charles Brown, by her side. She was born June 20, 1937 in Van, TX to Wesley (Buddy) and Flora (Hendrix) Byrd.

Memorial Service is Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2 pm at Second Baptist Church of Angleton, TX. Officiating is their Pastor, Chris Moore along with Pastor Dan Tarno, long-time friend.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles C. Brown, of Angleton, TX. Her children, James and Debra Brown of Nashville, TN, Judy and Ernest Mitchell, of West Columbia, TX and Linda and Herman Johnson of Kilgore, TX. Grandchildren, Nicki and Billy Conner of Lake Jackson, TX, David Brown of Ashville, North Carolina and Kodie and TC Mooney of California, and Great grandchildren, Parker Conner and Kaylee Conner of Lake Jackson, TX.

Jean followed her husband in the ministry most of their married life. She was a pastor's wife at Northside Baptist Church in Freeport, TX for 20 plus years, serving in the children's, youth and ladies ministries. She was also a bus monitor for a special-needs bus for several years. Jean was a hard worker and kept busy, but she could always find time to play a game of 42, Skip Bo or Phase 10. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them something like making dumplins, a new dessert she found in one of her magazines or how to sew. She lived out the gospel and the first two commandments: love God and love others, which she passed along to her children.

She is preceded in death by her son, Charles Eugene Brown, her parents, Wesley and Flora Byrd, and her sister, Peggy Lovell, and Brother-in-law Steve Lovell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of Second Baptist Church of Angleton, TX. Mailing address: 1817 Shanks Road Rd, Angleton, TX 77515.

In honor of Jean, we ask you to wear purple, her favorite color, to the memorial service

Pastor Charlie and Jean Brown have been dear friends to my wife, Virginia and me for several years. (Ginny) passed on to Glory a year ago, and now her body rests at Restwood in Clute. There is a sense that these two are reunited in friendship, and await their husbands. Gene Taylor
