Funeral services for Billy Wayne Heck, 80, of Richwood, will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bob Lockhart officiating. Family visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by public visitation at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019.
Billy was born in Giddings, Texas, on September 17, 1938 to Douglas and Mildred Stueber Heck and passed away at his home on January 19, 2019.
He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Chemical Engineering and also served in the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he gave instructional speeches on the Nike Zeus Missile throughout the United States.
After graduation from Texas A&M, he began working for Dow Chemical and retired after 27+ years of service. Billy was an avid golfer most of his life and after retirement he became a Master Gardener. He was instrumental in designing and building many of the structures on the site in Angleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby; sister, Judy Tyler; his first wife, Agnes; and his step-daughter, Trescia Jolly.
Survivors include his wife, Eva; step-sons, Milan and Charles Miller and Randy Ledbetter; Carla Urban; brother, James; and other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Master Gardeners Association or charity of your choice.
