Doris Ann Rutkowski passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, the 2nd of May in Angleton, TX

Doris was born to Paul and Virgie Keller on November 8, 1938 in Flint, Michigan, but shortly moved to San Antonio where she became a lifelong Texan.

She attended St. Benedicts Catholic School, explored her Christian calling at the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Chatawa, Mississippi and returned to San Antonio where she was graduated from St Gerard's Catholic High School.

Doris met the love of her life, Clarence (CJ) Rutkowski on a blind date. They married in November of 1960 in San Antonio, Texas. They went on to have three children Kirk, Jeanene, and Kelly. They moved to Lake Jackson in 1968 and this community became their home.

Family and faith were the center of life for Doris. She was a dedicated and loving mother who was active in the PTA, loved being a room mother and was there to support her children throughout their lives. St Michael's was also a great passion for her. She was active in all aspects of her faith and served as a Eucharist Minister, sat on the Parish Council and was a Teresian Sister until her passing. Bible study groups were a source of comfort for her and she was deeply committed to giving support to others in their time of need. Doris was a member and counselor of both RSVP, a widow support group and Compassionate Friends, a group for mothers who have lost their children.

In her later years, she moved to Carriage Inn and Country Village where she enjoyed keeping residents and caregivers on their toes. She loved all of them and considered them extended family.

Doris has joined her parents Paul and Virgie Keller, her siblings Johnny, Carl and Frances Marie Keller and has reunited with her husband Clarence Rutkowski and son Kirk Rutkowski in Heaven.

She is survived by her daughters Jeanene Rutkowski (Brandan White), Kelly Rutkowski Kavaler (John Kavaler) and Laurie and Sean Burgess, who were like a daughter and son to her, as well as their children Hailey and Brooke. In addition to her family she is survived and proceeded by many amazing friends that made her life complete.

We offer our deepest gratitude to the many nurses, CNA's and the entire team of Courtyard Country Village. Special thanks to Janice Watt at Amed Hospice. They became part of our family and helped Doris through the final stage of her life with dignity and grace.

Visitation will be held at St Michaels Church on Tuesday, the 7th of May at 9:00 AM with service to follow at 10:00 am

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice in her honor.
