Arthur (AT) Torrez Garcia, 75, of Freeport, passed away on Sunday, October 20th, 2019 at Creekside Village in Clute following a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Arthur was born on May 9, 1944 in Freeport,Tx to the late Ladislado R. Garcia and Margaret Torrez Garcia.

Arthur was raised in Freeport on the East end. He worked for Dow Chemical for almost 30 years and was a member of the Dow Union Pipefitters Local 390. He married the love of his life, Frances Munoz Garcia, in January 1963 in Freeport. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking care of his grandkids and going to casinos. He was passionate about the Dallas Cowboys, barbecuing and enjoying some cold adult beverages....on occasion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Frances Garcia and his brother, Gonzalo and his sisters - Esther, Connie, and Beatrice.

Arthur is survived by his sons Joel Garcia of Freeport, Vincent Garcia and wife Dawn of Freeport and Lalo Garcia and wife Stephanie of College Station. Sisters Virginia Tobias of Freeport, and Margaret Armstrong of Clute, brothers Pete Garcia of Saginaw, Julio Garcia and wife Virginia of Lake Jackson, Edward Garcia and wife Mary of Freeport, Oscar Garcia of Katy and David Garcia of Blue, Tx. Grandchildren Robert Huffman, Emilio, Jarret and Lauren Garcia, Josh Lara and wife Lauren, Elizabeth Garcia and spouse Dorian, Jordan Lara, Noah Garcia and wife Lizet, Jasmine el Jamali and husband Mehdi, Justis Garcia, Ashlyn, Katelynn and Brooklynne Miller, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Arthur Garcia will be held Thursday, October 24th at 1:00 pm at the Velasco Community House in Freeport. The family would like to invite friends and family to share a favorite memory or story. Lunch and fellowship to follow after the service. Please feel free to wear your Dallas Cowboy attire to honor his favorite team.
