Funeral services for Lettie Lou Abel, age 78, of Clute, TX will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday June 3rd at First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson with Dr. Lynn Settlemeyre officiating. Interment will be held at Houston National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 110 Lakeshore Ct. Clute, TX directly following the service.

Lettie was born in DeQuincy, LA in 1943 to Nathan and Sophie Kingrey. She earned a degree in biology from McNeese State University and married Jim Abel on New Year's Eve 1968. They enjoyed 52 years of friendship and love and had many travels around the world. Lettie was an avid reader of books. She enjoyed crotchet, cross stitch, and puzzles and spending time with her grandsons Luke and Jake.

Lettie is survived by her son Michael (Edith); grandchildren Luke, Jake, Erik Beal (July), and Mary Pool; sister Carolyn Schneider (Harry), brother-in-law Raymond Webb, and sister-in-law Wilda Kingrey. She was preceded into death by her husband James Abel, sister Joanna Webb, brother Nathan Kingrey and her parents Nathan and Sophie Kingrey.

There is a lifetime of cherished memories of knowing and loving my sister-in-law Lettie. She was part of the glue that held our family together. I will miss her here, but with the promises of God, we will be together again.
