Nikolaus Lapikockij was born June 14, 1947 in Germany. His family immigrated to the United States in 1950 and farmed in Maryland before settling in Gettysburg, PA. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in combat during the Vietnam War. He met his beloved wife while in the military and was married in 1973. He retired in 1986 after honorably serving his country for twenty years. He was a professional chef for many years and a talented wood worker. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freeport. As his wife became increasingly disabled, he became her full-time caretaker and was by her side until she passed away in 2005. He was a loving and dedicated family man, which was evident in his pride and love for his grandchildren. His kind and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa, and grandchildren, Cody and Aliana.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janeen; sister, Anna; brother, John; and parents, Mikola and Maria.

A viewing will be held 5-8PM Monday, June 21, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Freeport, 1402 W. Broad St. A church service the next day at 10:30AM Tuesday, June 22, 2021, with Mitch Powell officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery at a later determined time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Brazoria County SPCA, the Wounded Warriors Project, or any charity you would like to support.

Prayers are sent out to Nick's family. Nick was a great American. He served his country cooking for all those hungry soldiers that needed sustenance. He will finally be with the love of his life in Heaven. God bless
Nick's family. My prayer's for the family throughout this grieving period.
With the love of our Lord and myself,
