Harold Ray Carter, 69, of Sweeny, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at
Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. He was born on December 7, 1952 in
Calhoun, Texas to Carl and Joyce Carter. He married his soulmate, Hazel "Darlene" Carter, on
March 25, 1972.
Before becoming the beloved Party DJ, Harold worked as a chemical plant safety worker,
shrimp boat captain, and billiards instructor. He obtained certification by the Billiard Congress of
America and volunteered as a billiard's instructor in Brazosport College's Adult Life and
Learning Program for senior citizens. He then created The Party DJ's and Karaoke Business
and shared his love of music with others while making every event one to remember.
Harold was a very proud veteran of both the United States Army and the United States Marine
Corps. He served during the Vietnam Conflict, earning the rank of Sergeant, and founded
Troops Radio. He continuously strived to help veterans in need and worked diligently to boost
the morale of the U.S. Armed Forces overseas through live international radio broadcasts.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by six children, Ray
Carter (Stephanie) of Lake Jackson, TX, Elden Carter of Angleton, TX, Edna Hubbard of
Sweeny, TX, Shannon Hanners (Alex) of Puxico, MO, Chris Carter (Chelsea) of Denham
Springs, LA, and Terry Carter (Crystal) of Lake Jackson, TX; a brother, Michael Carter, of
Sweeny, TX; 22 grandchildren, Cebryna, Noel, William, Rain, Alia, Destiny, Dillon, Meagan,
Cheyenne, Cheylar, Richard, Clayrissa, Jessica, Wesley, Jennifer, Brandon, Darlene, Eric,
Gloria, Valaree, Eloy, and Markus; and six great-grandchildren, Michael, Elliott, Nolan, Nash,
Joziah, and Camila. He was a beloved father to many and will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Harold at Oyster Creek Park Splash Pad on Sunday,
October 23 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather for food and music to
honor the man who made everyone feel like family.
