Middie Irene Collard was born April 1, 1938. She left this life July 10, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born in Iola, Texas but raised her family in Brazoria County. She didn't see herself as special, but her family knew her as their port in a storm, the backbone of the family. "Irene" created beauty all around her with simple things, from her flower garden, to her home, and into the lives of the people she touched. She loved Christmas, marbles and rocks of every kind. She will be remembered for her generous fun, kind and loving nature that made everyone feel special.
She was preceded in death by her husband George M. Collard.
Left to mourn her is her mother, Vera Thomas; children George, Ronnie and wife Sherryl, Danette and husband Larry, Michael and wife Sherry, and Jeffery; and nine grandchildren and a great grandson.
Also surviving her are four brothers and three sisters, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Gourd Creek Cemetery off FM 1375 near New Waverly, Texas

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday July 13, 2011 at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

To the Family of Mrs. Collard: I offer my deepest condolences to you, the family, in your time of loss. I never had the honor of meeting Mrs. Collard. I have had the pleasure of knowing and having a professional relationship with three of her sons, George, Michael and Jeff. They are all fine men and I am truly confident that they are a true reflection of the wonderful person that Mrs. Collard was. Again, I offer my deepest sympathy and offer my support to her family in this difficult time. May God bless all of you and help you remember the joyous times that you experienced with Mrs. Collard.
