William "Bill" Herbert Palat ,69, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 in Clute, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jessie and Ernest Palat. He leaves his daughter, Stephanie Anderson; his grandchildren, Hayden and Haley Anderson; his brothers, Glenn Palat, Jimmy Palat (Sue), and Richard Palat (Patricia); a niece, Lindsey Palat; nephews RJ and Jacob Palat; and a great nephew, Bodhi Alexander. Bill was born on November 18, 1949 in Freeport, TX. He grew up in Freeport and lived the rest of his life in Jones Creek, TX. He graduated from Brazosport High School and furthered education with a Bachelors degree in psychology and an Associates degree in Biology at Sam Houston University in Huntsville, TX. He was married to Sherry Boatwright for 21 years and had a daughter, Stephanie. He worked at TDCJ for 35 years holding multiple positions and known as lieutenant Palat (Wild Bill), during that time met his second wife Linda Sims, whom he was married to for 10 years. He enjoyed the company of a great friend Pam Weinberg for the last 10 years of his life. He was an avid fisherman and would fish everyday if possible. He enjoyed hunting, photography, making and flying kites, gardening, and dancing through it all. He was the best father, grandfather, brother, husband, and friend that anyone could have. He was a truly great man, honest, caring, sweet, silly, loving, selfless, and one of a kind. Pallbearers will be Jacob Palat, Lynn Boatwright, Noe Gonzalez, Ronnie Tribble, Clay Hurt, and Greg Boatwright. Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Clute, Tx on Saturday December 1, 2018, viewing will begin at 12:30 pm ,funeral at 2 pm and graveside will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek, TX.
