Eleanor Mae Tinsley Andrews, 91, of Lake Jackson went to the place her Lord had prepared for her on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Eleanor Mae Tinsley was born October 27, 1927 to Henderson and Lizzie Schuelke Tinsley. She grew up in West Columbia, where she met and married a young Merchant Seaman named Cecil Andrews. They married May 6, 1944. He was being "shipped out" … she went home to graduate high school 2 weeks later. He wrote letters from wherever he was and she kept her "love letters" bundled together all these years and at her request they will be buried with her.

They were members of First Baptist Church of West Columbia and spent a lot of time with family. I have memories of warm summer nights turning the crank on homemade ice cream with the uncles playing music and singing while my cousins chased lightning bugs.

In 1957 they moved to Lake Jackson. They joined a new mission started by First Baptist Church and became charter members of what became Willow Drive Baptist Church. They both were very active members serving in many ways for the church. When Cecil died in 1981 she became the bookkeeper for the church. She retired at age 62 but found that she missed people. She soon became a part time worker for Target where she worked until age 75. She was an adult Sunday School teacher for many years and played a big part in her grandchildren's lives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, JC Andrews; her mother and father; her sisters, Mary Dee Griffin, Lois Bennett, Adelyn Bennett, Marie Hempel, Florence Barnes; her brother, Ira Tinsley; her son, Jim Andrews; and her daughter, Nancy Johnson.

She is survived by daughter, Anna Malone (Buddy); grandchildren, Ed Malone, Joel Malone (Heather), Byron Malone, Brad Johnson (Jennie), Scott Johnson (Katie), Jason Andrews (Kacy), Katie McCorkle (JT); great-grandchildren, Jenae Malone, Brittany Malone, Justine Malone, Zachary Johnson, Vincent Johnson, Zoe Johnson, Anna Piszczyk, Makenzie Blan, and Mattie Blan; and one great great-grandson, Kaden McIntyre.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m at Willow Drive Baptist Church in Lake Jackson. Visitation will be noon to 1:00 pm.

Dear Anna Carol, So sorry for your family's loss of your sweet Mama. Both your parents were such good people, so nice. Also, sad to l realize Jim and Nancy are gone, too. Hi to Buddy. The boys wouldn't remember our kids, maybe that there were two boys who lived on Sycamore on the other side of the "creek" when were in elementary school. Has been 46 years since we moved, but have very fond memories of our friends in LJ and WDBC. Take care. Kathy and Lonnie
