Joanne Wight, age 72 of Pasadena, TX passed away on the 8th of January at Memorial Hermann Southeast in Houston, TX.

Born in 1947 in Sentinel, OK to parents Oral and Marie Farris, Joanne was the youngest of four siblings. When she was young, her family moved to Lake Jackson, TX where her father worked for Dow Chemical Company. As a young adult, she met and started a family with Bobby Rouse, having four children together. During this time, she also became a certified beautician and worked at a salon for years before opening a figure salon, which she ran for a brief period.

She later began working for the prison system, where she worked as a correctional officer and commissary manager. It was during the course of her time here that she went on a trip with friends to Pasadena, TX where she encountered her future husband, Darrel Wight. They quickly fell in love together and got married on Valentine's Day the start of a loving marriage lasting nearly 30 years until her death.

Joanne found passion in handcrafting quilts and watching her grandchildren grow up. She loved watching gritty dramas on the television and spending time with her cats. Joanne had a witty sense of macabre humor that could brighten even the most melancholic times.

She is survived by her husband, Darrel Wight of Pasadena, TX; children Mitchell Rouse of Angleton, TX; Donna Sheffield and husband Gary of Angleton, TX; Jason Rouse and wife Niki of Pearland, TX; stepson Richard Wight of Pasadena, TX; as well as sisters Wanda Johnston of Sweeny, TX, Orleen Naquin and husband Ralph of Lake Jackson, TX, and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Shannon Rouse, parents Oral and Marie Farris, sister Glenna Landreneau, and granddaughter Katie Sheffield.
