James "Jim" Louis Struthwolf, age 84, died on May 12, 2021, in Lake Jackson, TX. He was born on May 4, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY, but made his way to College Station, TX, to become the proudest member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1959. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets and was Texas A&M personified- loyal, honest, and valuing tradition. In 1961 he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Barton, of Sipe Springs, TX, at the All Faiths Chapel on the Texas A&M campus. Together they had twin daughters, Catherine and Mary. Jim had a full career as an engineer at Dow Chemical, and after retirement, spent many years volunteering with Mary Ann at CHI Brazosport Hospital and being an active member of Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed tending to his lemon tree and was a talented wood carver. Being a parent and grandparent were some of Jim's greatest joys, whether it was reading his thermal-dynamic textbook to his daughters as babies, or reading with his grandchildren on his lap in his favorite chair. As they grew older, he enjoyed taking them on "bumpy rides" in his truck, stocking the fridge full of "blue beer" (juice), and sharing stories of "the dark ages" that featured his sharp wit and humor. Jim and Mary Ann recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with the birth of their first great-grandchild. Much of his free time was spent connecting with his family (in person and over FaceTime now that they live all over the map), and following Aggie athletic events. When the Muster softly calls- for Jim, for Daddy, for Papa- together we will answer, "Here." Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elisabeth Struthwolf. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his daughters and their spouses, Cathy and Dave Kasper and Mary and Dale Whittaker; his grandchildren and their spouses, Dane Whittaker; Erin Whittaker and Russell McIntosh; Melissa and Andrew Reisdorf; and Ryan Kasper; and his great-granddaughter, Avery Reisdorf. The funeral service for Jim Struthwolf will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 22, at Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Alan Trafford officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 102 Yaupon Street, Lake Jackson, TX 77566. Contributions will be directed to: Presbyterian Children's Homes of Itasca, His Love Counseling Service, and Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Although I only saw and spoke with Jim about once a year at the Sipe Springs reunion, it was always a joy to hear his wit and sense of humor. I would look around to find him just so I could hear what he had to say. He always made me smile or laugh. We will truly miss him.
