Dorothy Jean Bowers, 71, of Angleton, formerly of Lake Jackson, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011. She was born August 1, 1939 to T L and Lahoma Vowell in Longview, Texas. Dorothy was an area resident for the past 45 years. She was an office manager for Crawford's Furniture for over 25 years. Dorothy and her husband Donald were avid campers and enjoyed fishing. She was one of the founding members of the Circle "B" Cookers and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Donald, 3 children: Derek Bowers and wife Jacki, Dianne Swindle and husband Todd,Denise Echols and husband Mark, 7 grandchildren: Haylee and Laynee Echols, Amber and Shane Cramer, Joshua, Caleb, and Nathan Swindle,
4 great grandchildren: Landon and Ainsley Cramer, Roman and Ella Swindle, and niece Teri Winkleman, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother Don Vowell.
The family will receive friends 6pm until 8pm Monday at the Lakewood Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Family Life Church in Lake Jackson with Ted Bowers officiating and assisted by Pastor Craig Taylor with graveside services following at Restwood Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be: Gary Bowers, Bobby Bowers, Dennis Bowers, Kim Bowers, Shane Cramer, Kevin Keen. Honorary pall bearers will be her extended camping friends.
The family requests donations to the Susan G Komen foundation for cancer research.
