Joe Preston Small, 83, of Lake Jackson passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2023.
Joe was born on June 9, 1940 in Gladewater, TX. After graduating from Longview Negro High School, Joe joined the Navy and retired after 24 years. Joe was also a Vietnam Veteran.
In 1963, Joe met his wife Shoko while stationed in Japan. Joe and Shoko went on to have three children. Stacey, Milo, and Chris. Joe worked for Intermedics and Nasa for many years and retired at 62 years old. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by wife, Shoko Small, Daughter Milo Guinn, sons Stacey and Chris Small, Daughter in law Whitney Small. Seven grandchildren Nathan Small, Kristen Davidson, Christopher Valdez, CJ Guinn, Bryan Guinn, Ruby Small and Andy Andrews. And two great granddaughters Khloe Gutierrez and Journey Burgess.
