Services for Barrie Wayne Gilcrease, 80, of Cedar Lane, Texas will be Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Lakewood Chapel, Clute, Texas. The family will receive guests beginning at 11:00 am. Jack Burt officiating.

Barrie was born in the Dow Chemical Hospital on August 29, 1944 and left this world unexpectedly and too soon on April 26, 2025, as he was recovering from hip replacement surgery. Barrie was preceded in death by his love, Linda Anne Gilcrease, his parents, Connie and Euna Gilcrease, his brothers, Conan Gilcrease and Norman ''Stormy'' Gilcrease, nephew Jerry Gilcrease, brother-in-law Terry Walker, and his in-laws Samual and Lilly Walker, as well as many fur babies over the years.

Barrie is survived by his brother, Patrick Gilcrease and wife Linda, nephews, Aaron Gilcrease and wife, Carrie, Shawn Gilcrease and wife Jessica, nieces Melissa Morris and husband Bob, and Mandy Miller, brother-in-law Ray Walker and wife Sarah, sister-in-law Betty McCoslin and his fur babies, Lucky and Spike. He is also survived by 12 great nieces and nephews as well as 11 great great nieces and nephews.

Barrie married the love of his life, Linda, on August 14, 1964. That union started a lifetime of adventures, the first being Barrie's service in the US Army. His service carried him all over the world, from being stationed in multiple places in the United States, to Vietnam, Germany, and France, just to list a few. Barry earned many awards and medals during his time in the Army. Upon his retirement from the Army as a Master Sergeant E-8, he joined forces with his brother and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic in Big Sandy and Livingston, Texas.

Barrie and Linda moved to Cedar Lane in the '90's and began another adventure. Barrie and Linda loved motorcycles. In 2009 the Matagorda County Calvary was formed and they were proudly members number 3 and 4 of the Calvary where Barrie soon became a committee member. Barrie and Linda escorted many military service men and women to their final resting place over the years. After Linda's death in 2014, Barrie's heart was broken, but he continued serving with the Calvary as well as the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Chapter.

In recent years, Barrie could be found tinkering in his shop or around the house. He and his brother Pat were two peas in a pod. They supported each other through happiness and sadness, each being there for the other. If one bought something, the other was following right behind.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Gilcrease, Bob Morris, Shawn Gilcrease, Andrew Morris, Justin Hindsman, Matthew Eberlan and Levi Green. Honorary pallbearers will be the Matagorda County Calvary and Donald Weathers.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UTMB Angleton who took such great care of him while he recovered from hip surgery as well as the staff at Cypress Woods Care Center during his brief stay there.
