December 10, 1948 - June 10, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Barabara Mills Monté announces her passing on June 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. It was on December 10, 1948, in Freeport, Texas, when Billy and Frances Mills welcomed their first child into the world. Barbara graduated from Brazosport High School in May 1967, where she excelled in both academic and sports. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1971 and began her teaching career. She received her Master of Education from the University of Houston in 1981. Barabara's teaching career spanned for 40 plus years. In August of 1968, she married the love of her life, Larry Monté. Barbara was very active in many endeavors but her favorite things were being active in Chapelwood Methodist Church and her children's sports programs, especially softball for not only her two daughters but so many other girls. In 2005, Barbara was inducted into the Texas ASA Hall of Fame, following in the footsteps of her Father, Billy Mills.
Her long courageous battle with cancer has ended and her health has been restored to her in heaven.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents: and sisters, Sandy Mills Dodson, and Karen Ann Mills; as well as her in-laws, L.J. and Maragaret Monté.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; and their children, Jay Monté, Meredith Martin, and Megan Arceneaux; and six grandchildren, Jaci Monté, Cody Monté, Lane Martin, Mason Martin, Kace Arceneaux, and Kenly Arceneaux. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Jerri Lee Mills (Brian Jones), and her brother, Scott Mills (Cindy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends that she had considered as part of her family.
