James (Jim) Elvis Mobley Jr 3/4/1941-6/13/2025

James (Jim) Elvis Mobley Jr, 84 of Lake Jackson Tx, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025. He was born on March 4,1941 in Doniphan Missouri to Elvis and Bethel Mobley.

Jim was preceded in death by both parents, his son Lance, his brothers Jack, Lavalle, Bill, Don, Glenn and Dick.

Jim is survived by his wife Shary, daughter Lori, grandchildren Ryan (wife Masha), Samantha and Macy, brothers Ed and Larry, sisters Elva, Helen and Jane, daughter-in-law Kelley.

Jim grew up on a farm in a small town in Missouri, he was one of 12 siblings. After he graduated high school, he began working as a painter for his older brother Jack in the Houston area. He eventually came to work in the Freeport area in 1962 where he met his wife Shary, they married in 1964, had 2 children and lived in Lake Jackson. He graduated from Wharton Junior College and continued at The University of Houston.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He loved his family and worked very hard to provide for his family. Some of his hobbies included fishing, boating, hunting, golfing. He had an unwavering faith in God and was an active member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church. He always played an active role in his children and grandchildren's lives attending all their activities and sharing advice on life skills.

He began working in the Freeport area in 1962 for Star Paint. He worked for Monical and Powell from 1964-1971, U.S. Contractors 1971-2001, then with Infinity Construction thru 2016 when he retired, he was a construction superintendent/ manager most of his career. Jim was very active in the Jaycees from late 1960's thru 1978, where he served as President part of that time.

The family would like to thank IPH Hospice staff with a special thank you to his nurse Taylor Knox and to all the Carriage Inn staff, with a special thank you to Marilou for her compassion and patience she always gave in Jim's care.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday June 20, 2025, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church from 5-7 pm. Funeral service will be held Saturday June 21, 2025 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church at 12 pm in Lake Jackson.

Dear Mobley Family,
Kevin and I are so sorry that we will miss Jim's visitation and funeral. We are currently at our home in Colorado. Jim was such a wonderful man. We enjoyed working with him so much. Our company would not have been what it was without him. Sending our love, hugs and prayers.
