In Loving Memory of Bedie ''Pauline'' Houston

August 28, 1948 - July 19, 2025

Bedie ''Pauline'' Houston, a beloved wife, mother, MawMaw, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on the morning of July 19, 2025. Born on August 28, 1948, in Crockett, Texas, Pauline was a woman of strength, grace, and deep love who touched the lives of many throughout her 76 years.

Pauline graduated from Columbia High School in 1967 and later settled in Jones Creek, Texas, where she would live for over 50 years. Her husband, L.B. Houston, was her soulmate and best friend since they were just 15 years old. Married for nearly 58 years, their love story was one of unwavering devotion and deep companionship.

Pauline dedicated over three decades of her life to her work as a hairdresser, forming meaningful relationships with her clients. Her first beauty shop, Pauline's Beauty Shop, was located in Brazoria. Later on, alongside her husband, she built her own salon, Village Hair, in Jones Creek which she worked at until she retired. Lifelong friendships with co-workers, Marty Baker and Bonnie Sullivan, were bonds she treasured deeply.

Outside of her work, Pauline found joy in crocheting, as well as, country music. She loved dancing to nearly every song during her years as co-owner of Cooter Brown's Country Club. But above all, the greatest joy in her life came from her role as ''Momma'' and ''MawMaw.'' Her daughter, Allison Jasso, son-in-law Victor Jasso III, and granddaughters Mya and Breah were the light of her life and her greatest pride.

Her sisters were not only family but her lifelong best friends - steadfast companions through every season of life. Their bond was built on laughter, shared memories, and unconditional love.

Though she endured many health challenges over the years, Pauline faced each one with quiet courage, never complaining and always focusing on her family. Her strength and spirit remained steadfast until the very end. We take comfort in knowing she is now fully restored, dancing once again, and saving places in Heaven for those she loved most.

Pauline is survived by her loving husband, L.B. Houston; daughter, Allison Jasso; son-in-law, Victor Jasso III; granddaughters, Mya and Breah Jasso; ''adopted'' son, Stephen Haverkamp; ''adopted'' grandson, Blaine Haverkamp; sisters, Mary Webb (Duane) and Gracie Fletcher (Tommy); brothers-in-law, Bill Houston (Mindy) and Richard Tierney (Diane); sisters-in-law, Eileen Decker and Rosemary Tierney; nieces and nephews that she loved as if they were her own children (Sherry, Darlene, Brian, Tammy, and Tonya); and numerous dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Lois Jean Dudley; her mother, Bedie Lois Duckworth; her father, Dale Gallant; her grandparents ''Daddy'' Lee, ''Momma'' Grace, ''Momma'' Beard, ''PaPa'' Beard; and brother-in-law, Louis Houston, Jr.

Pallbearers: Stephen Haverkamp, Brian Webb, Greg Okonski, Brent Webb, Dylan Coslin, Louis Lara, Anthony Smith

Honorary Pallbearers: Blaine Haverkamp, David Coslin, Shawn Sanchez, Eric Guajardo, Junior Poteet
A Viewing & Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, on Wednesday, July 23 5-6PM. A Graveside Service at Hagan Cemetery in Crockett, Texas will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, July 24.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Choice Hospice, especially her nurse, Kelli Lamenza, and to the caring staff at Woodlake Nursing Home for their compassion and support during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brazosport ISD Education Foundation for a scholarship in Pauline's honor. The Pauline Houston Memorial Scholarship will support students pursuing their cosmetology license, a fitting tribute to her life's work and passion. Donations can be mailed to PO Drawer Z; Freeport, TX 77541 with ''Pauline Houston Memorial Scholarship'' in the memo line.

Oh how I will miss my Aunt Pauline. I'll forever cherish the memories of all the fun and good times we shared as I was growing up and became an adult. From swimming in the summer, dance parties in their pool room and dancing and having fun at Cooter Browns. She was one in a million and I loved her so. Heaven gained one special lady.
