Geri Gayle Halfpap Ammons
January 21, 1959 - August 21, 2025

Geri Gayle Halfpap Ammons, 66, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away on August 21, 2025, surrounded by her family's love. She was born on January 21, 1959, in Freeport, Texas, to the late Dorothy Cottongin.

Geri spent most of her life in Brazoria County and was a proud graduate of Brazosport High School, Class of 1977. It was there she met the love of her life, Harold E. ''Junior'' Ammons, Jr. The two married on June 25, 1977, and built a home together in Lake Jackson, where they raised their family and where Geri created countless memories that she cherished until her final days.

She loved to dance around her kitchen, especially when Whitney Houston came on, and she was a Jimmy Buffett Parrot Head until the end. Geri found peace and joy in her backyard, which she lovingly referred to as her ''enchanted garden,'' watching the dogs play and deer gather along the levee banks as the sun set on the day.

Geri's entrepreneurial spirit led her to become the proud owner of Affairs to Remember, a full-service catering company in Lake Jackson. She was passionate about providing brides with the wedding of their dreams and was known throughout the community for her creativity, generosity, and attention to detail. Her love language was food - she found joy in feeding others and hosting gatherings, whether for holidays, birthdays, or simply ''just because.''

In recent years, even as her health declined, Geri remained steadfast in her care for others. She continued cooking and delivering meals to friends and neighbors who were less mobile due to age or illness, embodying her lifelong devotion to service and community.

Geri's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Ammons, Jr., and her children: Emily Ammons Estrada and husband Esteban (daughters Tiana and Isabella), Trey Ammons, Sydney Ammons and partner Cailin Rowan, Haleigh Ammons Saenz and husband Jonathan (son Jonah), Corporal Demetris ''Dee'' L. Ohlenbusch, USMC, Elyssa Jimenez and husband Jose (daughter Camilia), and Antonio Cross. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Camilia Jimenez and Jonah Saenz, and great-granddaughter Xaeloni Estrada. Geri was deeply proud of them all and was grateful for every moment shared together as a family. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Cottongin, and siblings Norman Langwell, Toni Cross, Carl Halfpap, and James ''Gus'' Sons.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the incredible 7 South 3 ICU care team at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center for their compassion and support in Geri's final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Geri's memory to the Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center Excellence Fund: https://supportstlukes.org/donate.

Her love was the fabric that held her family together; even in her absence, we remain wrapped in her warmth. Our family was her world, and she was our everything. We will miss her every day, but will forever carry her love, humor, and spirit forward in all that we do.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 1024 Oleander, Lake Jackson, Texas. This will be a come-and-go gathering, and all are welcome to stop by at any time during the afternoon to share memories and honor Geri's life.

I will always remember Geri's infectious laugh, her sharp wit, and her generous spirit. She was truly beautiful - inside and out. Her love for her family was fierce and unwavering, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
