Lanita Ann Weatherly Polk, age 65, passed away on September 10, 2025, in Lake Jackson, Texas. Born on July 7, 1960, in Freeport, Texas, Lanita lived a life centered around love, laughter, and the care of her family.

Lanita was a devoted wife to Dennis ''Lucky'' Polk and a cherished mother to her daughter Tosha Hatfield and husband Ron, and her son Dennis Polk Jr. and wife Jasmine Ling. She found immense joy in being a grandmother to Aiden and Asher Hatfield, and Akira, Kenzie, Ireland, and Penelope Polk. Her nurturing spirit shone brightest when she was with her grandchildren - she loved taking care of them and treasured every moment spent in their company.

She loved her sisters Sandra Watson and husband K.M., Kathy Pelham and husband Jerry, and Janet Harrison and husband Paul. Also survived by brother-in-law Leonard Polk and wife. Lanita also held close the memory of her late parents Ray and Juanita Weatherly; her sisters Patsy Nugent Smith and Sue Smith; and her brother James Weatherly. Her extended family included many nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

Lanita's life was defined by her unwavering dedication to those she loved. She had a heart for nurturing others - always ensuring that everyone around her felt cared for. Her laughter was infectious and contagious. Everyone would be laughing once she started. Whether through a kind word or smile, she made those around her feel seen and valued.

We are heartbroken that she is gone and will miss her every day. May knowing she is no longer in pain bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on September 16, 2025, at 9:30AM at Lakewood Funeral Chapel 98 Dixie Dr in Clute. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00AM followed by burial at Restwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are: Dennis Polk, Jr, Ron Hatfield, Aiden Hatfield, Ireland Polk, Shawn Smith, and Coby Bradley.

There are some souls who grace this world with a light so powerful, so pure, that even in their absence, that light never fades. Lanita Polk was one of those souls.

From the earliest days of my life, I was blessed - truly blessed - to be raised by a woman whose love knew no limits. Lanita was not just family; she was a safe place, a guiding star, a source of joy so radiant it could brighten even the darkest days. She gave of herself so freely, so selflessly, that you couldn't help but feel deeply loved in her presence.

To know her was to be wrapped in warmth. Her laughter, her wisdom, her gentle strength - it all lives in me. The lessons she taught, not always in words, but in her actions, in the way she cared for others without expecting anything in return, have shaped the very core of who I am.

It's impossible to put into words just how much she is already missed. The ache is real, but I hold onto the comfort that she is no longer in pain. She is free now, at peace, surrounded by the same love she gave so abundantly in this life.

Lanita Polk, thank you - for every hug, every word of encouragement, every quiet act of kindness you never thought twice about. I carry your love with me always. Your legacy is not just remembered - it lives on through those of us who had the honor of being loved by you.

Rest easy, beautiful soul. You will forever be missed, and forever cherished.
