Stacy Powell
September 27, 1947 - September 9, 2025

Stacy Earl Powell, 77, passed peacefully into the embracing arms of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Stacy had followed his family traditions of being a shrimper and living on New River in North Carolina where he had spent most of his childhood. At twenty years old, Stacy enlisted into the United States Army to serve his country. After being medically discharged, he went to Texas where he would serve the public once again by joining the Brazoria County Sheriff's department and serve with them for many years. He would go on to have many adventures in law enforcement assisting in other agencies, engaging in numerous operations with the Department of Defense, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Customs and to eventually retiring with the Gulf Coast Rescue Squad. Stacy was employed with Oceaneering International Inc., a naval contracting company that specialized in sub-nautical exploration. He was a project manager that oversaw all under sea operations such as the Titanic, the confederate submarine Hunley, the space shuttle Liberty Bell 7, and many other undersea recoveries.

Stacy meets the love of his life, Elizabeth, between his many adventures. They married and began the greatest journey in life, a journey that would last for forty-four years of beautiful memories, hardships and experiences for their children to grow and learn from. For Stacy, the simple life pleasures meant the most to him. Sitting by a campfire with friends, clamming, being on the river and spending time with his family. He was a selfless man who was always ready to help family, friends and strangers.

Stacy is survived by his wife Elizabeth Powell, his brothers Orlando, wife Debbie, and James Powell; children, Staci Lynn Powell, Steven Powell, wife Leticia, Matthew Powell, wife Emma Powell, Eric Powell; grandchildren, Bobby Ruble, Lauryn Ruble, Steven Powell, Sophia Powell, Eli Powell, Luke Powell and great grandchild; Brooke Ruble. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Georgia Powell and sister, Brenda Goodson.

Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, 401 Yaupon Street, Lake Jackson, TX on September 20, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. with funeral service immediately following at 5:30 p.m.

Just got word today of Stacy's passing. He was one of the finest men it has ever been my pleasure in life to work with. It seemed there was never a job or task he couldn't perform. He had an absolute gift for organizing people and the work that needed doing. Somewhere out there the Good Lord has recalled a fine man.

My condolences to Liz, Eric, and Matthew as well as the extended family.
