Raymond George Piel Jr passed from this earth on February 21, 2026, at the age of 70, after a brief illness surrounded by his family.

Ray enjoyed many adventurous hobbies in his life including diving, photography and many miles on his Harley motorcycles. He loved spending time with family and friends and could be called upon at any time for help or sage advice. His boisterous laugh and stories will be remembered by all that heard them. He grew up in Wild Peach when the Peach was still wild. Brigance road and others in Wild Peach witnessed many of Ray's antics as a boy. He then started his family there continuing the legacy. Ray lived around the Brazoria area before building his dream home on the San Benard River.

Ray is survived by his wife, Ramona Lopez Piel; Sons Raymond Piel III (Denise) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Christopher Piel (Jody) of Brazoria, and Daughter Candy Piel of Alvin, Texas. Sisters Bonnie Hutton (Richard) of Houston, Judy Kistler (Ernie) of Angleton, Brother Monty Piel (Paula) of Fischer, Texas. Grandchildren Misti Ince, Dylan Piel, Lindsey Pryor, Makayla Piel, Tatum Thomas-Piel, Jordan Turner, Jamesha Howington, Christen, Kaedin and Armoniee Woods. Along with 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. After marrying the love of his life, Ramona, he was blessed to gain children Tony Gallagher (Jessica), Thomas Gallager (Brigitte), Theresa Gallager all of Angleton and Tiffany Carrillo (Jorge) of Cypress. Grandchildren Aralynn, Adalynn, Calysta, Finn, Lyla Gallager and Julian and Camila Carrillo.

Ray started his career at Dow as a pipefitter at the young age of 18 in 1974 until the mid 90's. He then tried his hand at drafting before joining his sons in the Instrument Tech field until he decided that life on the road was not for him and Ramona.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Myrl Piel. Sister Kay Price. Grandparents Louis and Laura Piel and Luther and Frances Strand.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

We may Ray in 2007 and spent many fun times together, going to movies, playing games, and dining out on the weekends. We have to mention the other loves of his life and that would be his dogs. He will be missed. We are praying for you all.

Chris,
So sorry to hear that your DAD passed. He was a friend of mine and my step brothers (Montiers). Linda and I enjoyed talking with him about our years growing up off Brigance Road.
Love you guys. Call us if you need anything,

His tell it like it is mentality, & the deep love for his family will always be a treasured memory.
If you wanted the truth, be prepared for it, because he would tell you the truth.
I will miss my uncle Ray dearly. Knowing he's up there with so many loved ones that went before him. I asked that he hug each and everybody when he walked through the pearly gates.
I'm so happy that he's no longer in pain, & is now in the arms of the angels.
His huge laugh, & his hard head made him uniquely loved.
