She grew up in Dickinson, Texas, where she attended Dickinson High School and later attended the University of Houstonâ€"Clear Lake, where she received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.Susan married Michael Mladan in 1985, and together they welcomed their daughter, Amanda Ranae Mladan. Later, she married James Barton in 2008, and together they shared a son, James Andrew Barton, born in February 1999.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wedess Meche; her grandparents, Lorena and Oneal Meche, and George and Martha Jean Dodson; her brother, Bobby Meche; and her aunt, Brenda Kay Flex.
Susan is survived by her loving mother, Georgia Ann Galvan, and stepfather, Robert Galvan, of Lake Whitney, Texas; her daughter, Amanda Ranae Mladan of Dickinson, Texas; her son, James Andrew Barton of Texas City, Texas; her brothers, Randy Meche and wife Mindy of Erath, Louisiana, along with their children Shawn and Dillon, cousin Blake, and her brother Carl Meche of Austin, Texas; her sister, Kelli Ann Plummer of Lake Whitney, Texas and nephews Blake Jensen and Keagan Plummer of Galveston, TX; and her four cherished grandchildren,

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her cousins Kathy and her husband Javi Gonzalez, Barbara and her husband Russell Luna, and Bobby Flex and his wife Amy for their support. Special appreciation is also given to Choice Hospice and the compassionate nurses Ashley and Sarah for their care and kindness. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Faith Taylor for assisting hospice when a helping hand was needed in caring for our beloved Susan.
Susan dedicated most of her life to healthcare, working with several healthcare organizations and in private care, where she touched many lives with her compassion.Growing up, Susan preferred music over television. She loved country music deeply and, like her father, could name country singers and their songs from a very young age. At just two years old, she could already identify songs, and she often said, ''I'm going to be a country singer!'' Karaoke became her passion - just give her a microphone and a band, and she would light up the room. Her signature song, ''Coal Miner's Daughter,'' was one she loved to perform.
Susan also had a soft heart for animals. She leaves behind her beloved pets, Bentley (''Booboo'') and Jolene.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Susan will be remembered for her loving heart, her strength, her music, and the joy she brought to those around her
